mayhap: illustration of young crowned girl with text ordinary (the ordinary princess)

Did anyone else read The Ordinary Princess by M.M. Kaye? That was one of the obscure gems of my childhood. I've always loved stories that subvert your expectations, and it was such a sweet, funny send-up of the fairytale princess.

I checked out the library's copy to reread and scan to make icons (see also this one). What I really need to do is dig out the two stories I wrote in the same genre not so long after and post you for them all.

mayhap: Edward Elric sleeps on his desk (zzzzz ...)

Oh, lovely.

It's the tornado siren.

Good thing I'm already in the basement.

Not so good for my dad, who went to bed at 9:30, though. Brother not so thrilled either.

Danny is trying to sleep on the couch. My dad is watching some crazy documentary on TCM about some cinematographer who "films the impossible". I'm trying to play a text adventure recommended by someone on Slashdot, called Jigsaw, about which more later.

Edit: Eep. We are being battered by hail. Storm is, according to guy on TV, freakish and scary and stuff.
