Actually, that seems to be a ganache cookie, which is one of my very favorite kinds of cookies, although much less understandable than chocolate chip cookies. It calls for a cup of unsweetened chocolate as well as the cocoa, brandy, and cinnamon, which would be half a pound, which should be enough to compete with the cinnamon and brandy. A cup of flour is on the high side for this kind of recipe; most chocolate ganache cookies are almsot entirely melted chocolate, with only a few eggs stirred in, only a few tablespoons of flour, and maybe some chocolate chips, macadamia nuts, toffee chips, dried cranberries, or something else stirred in.
Making a recipe like this is just the kind of thing I would do, so good for you for pulling it off, and flat spongy cinnamon disks don't sound bad at all!
