As I realized I hadn't any His Dark Materials icons and that simply will not do, especially now that I have booked my tickets for 20 and 21 December. It's Lyra with the alethiometer from the Dutch cover of The Golden Compass. I like her. I like her hair.
We read The Golden Compass in Writing for Young Readers this week (which was actually a surprise to me, who misread her syllabus and therefore read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants instead). My entire class started addressing questions to me as they had somehow intuited I knew a bit about the books and Philip Pullman and the Paradise Lost connections and such. It amused me.
I want to talk about the story I'm writing in that class, which is the largest idea I've ever had that just kept getting better and better instead of more full of holes than a wool sweater draped over a porch light, but I haven't the energy. Story of my life, recently. At least, after I've taken my Death on the Nile test tomorrow and turned in my two essay questions for Gender in Early Christianity, it will be spring break. I look forward to doing a lot of writing then.
Hee. A lot of writing for me is like a couple of pages at a time.
