I found my perfect tattoo

Bronze Age etching of a Viking ship

I so want to get this tattooed on the small of my back. Never mind that I hate needles. And pain. And most tattoos.

Speaking as a card-carrying needle and pain wuss who happens to be tattooed? It doesn't hurt THAT much. Yeah, it hurts, somewhat like getting your legs waxed. Both are on the upper level of what I would tolerate for mere aesthetic considerations. ^^

But hell. I liked being tattooed so much I went back and had another one, and am planning extensive modifications to my first.

But not liking most tattoos might be a problem. :D

Nice design though.

Oh, that'll make an amazing one!

haha.... I felt the same way about needles and pain and tattoos, but I got my tiger (the one on my page) done on the small of my back... most excruciating hour of my life... Don't get black, they have to go over it several times so it won't fade. And the more detail, the more pain. Just thought I'd warn... :)

If you don't mind explaining what it is to everyone for the rest of your life, go for it. But I guess it's like chinese characters that people who know no chinese randomly tatoo on themselves. Like the guy who had the chinese word for "woman" tatooed on himself because it looked pretty.

Thanks! I kinda love it myself. :)

I understand finding ugly tattoos depressing. Such as this. Not work friendly. Not retina-or-sanity-friendly, actually.

What did you have done?
1. A hummingbird just above my left buttock. Done at 18 in a fit of rebellion/self-discovery.
2. Plain black triquetra, centered on my torso, immediately below my sternum. Yes, the goddamned Charmed symbol. ^_^ I discovered this the night before I had it done, but I think my tattoo will be around longer than the show, so...*shrug*

What are you having redone?

My hummingbird. I want to have it recoloured and worked into a larger piece of medieval stylle illumination. Mebbe French book-of-hours type stuff? With acanthus leaves and twisting lines and colours.

Do you have pictures?

No, but I have a webcam. Watch for a friends-locked post sometime.

Have there been any studies done on how many people who try tattoos become tattoo addicts? :D

*laugh* Probably not. But there should be!

LJ wont let me log in at this precise moment- CBN

No it's more like "why did you get a Viking Ship tatooed on yourself?"
If people adorned themselves with ships and planes and Harleys, your artwork would be less daunting.
