Rube Goldberg-like device for transferring music

So, the canny university computer elves here block us from using pretty much any kind of P2P software you can think of, plus a lot of random other things, such as (I am not making this up) Yahoo! games. Now, my roommate sophomore year fell prey to (of all things) mahjong on Yahoo! games, so perhaps this may be to the good, but I think it mildly excessive.

I do find that our resnet here is faster than mine at NYU ever hoped of being, but then again, I find it considerably more difficult to ... ahem ... take advantage of my bandwidth.

Attempting to fill this pathetic filesharing void in my life, I have listened to the shared music libraries of my fellow iTunes users. Unfortunately, they listen to shit music. I have downloaded scads and scads of Tea Party bootleg mp3s, which led to the incident earlier this afternoon when I was out with my iPod and this live recording of Fire in the Head that I'd never even listened to came on and it began with Jeff Martin speaking French! Really, really bad French! (I think he says, "Uh, je pense de [unintelligable] cet-cette chanson," which, yeah.) Be still my heart! I even bought exactly one song off the iTMS (the aforementioned Rock Dead by the aforementioned One Ring Zero).

Mostly, though, I make [livejournal.com profile] satyadasa download things and send them to me. Such as the all-important episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist (*mourns*) and Lost. He is my bittorrent slave. :D Tragically, he is not online anywhere near often enough, and besides this removes the element of whimsy. I can only really make him download songs that are are easy to find, that I definitely know that I want, and that I am willing to admit to wanting.

All of which is a roundabout way of saying: if any of you wanted to send me songs, that would be all fun and stuff. Even if it turns out that I hate all the songs. Because how else would I find that out? It would be a valuable learning experience. Or something.

*sends you songs* I sent three or four. Hope you like 'em. :)

Whee! :) So glad. It's definitely one of my favourites.

You're very welcome. I will have a browse through my playlist and see what else I can find. I know how much it sucks when a playlist gets stale.

Since you are closer to England than I am, I'm sending you two contemporary british folk tracks (England being the Mecca of folk tracks, and me being a pilgrim on that road).

Since you are closer to Norway than I am, I'm sending you one norwegian "spatial jazz" (I swear it should be a type if it isn't) track.
