Today

handynavi and I went to the Pirtle Winery in Weston to buy mead. We found it with almost no difficulty considering that the first time we went down something labeled "Spring Street" we ended up in someone's long loopy driveway.

We got two bottles of mead classic and two bottles of raspberry mead because it was even yummier. Tonight we are going to build a bonfire, read from The Sagas of the Icelanders and Beowulf, and of course drink mead.

Why yes, I do have awesome ideas.

Mmmm...mead *drools* Mead is like the bestest liquor out there...unfortunately, I never get to drink any because (a) I'm a lightweight and don't ever drive if I've even had one drink, (b) I don't like to drink alone, and (c) almost never spend time with my friends out where I can drink.

I miss mead, though...I need to find some.

In Prague, there was this awesome place called Shakespeare & Sons... an English-language bookstore cafe with a bar in it. Down the block from my apartment. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time there. (I found some photos of it here.) Anyway, on the menu, in addition to the usual beer and liquor on the menu, they featured mulled wine, grog, and mead. And I always asked for the mead, but they were always out of it. That should tell you everything you need to know about the place... I don't know many other bookstores that constantly run out of mead. I did try the grog once, but decided that I don't much care for grog...

The other part to this story is that my frequent drinking buddy at Shakespeare's was a guy from Iceland. Unfortunately he did not share any sagas with me. Anyway, let us know how your awesome idea / Mead Night worked out, it sounds like a heap o' fun.
