potentialities

I am restless and itchy and require distraction in the form of drabble prompts. Any fandom, any pairing, prompts optional. If I don't actually recognize the fandom, I will google it and make shit up. Go wild!

I took today as my paid holiday in honor of my birthday yesterday! My aunt refused to believe that that was an actual, legitimate holiday offered by my employers. I think she's jealous.

I had a very lovely birthday. My mom made me cheesecake, as she traditionally does, and of course, cheesecake is always yummy, but this cheesecake! It was light and fluffy and melted in your mouth!

We asked her what she'd done differently. "I followed the recipe," she said. "Alton Brown said you're supposed to actually follow recipes."

"I've been telling you my entire life that you're supposed to actually follow recipes and not just go substituting and changing them all willy nilly," I said indignantly. "How come you won't believe it from me but you will believe it from Alton Brown?"

Apparently all his science-y talk was more convincing than my because I said sos.

I got Sam a Ryoma hat for Christmas and he said that he wore it to the grocery store, not expecting anyone to know what it was, and got a look of startled recognition. He got me The Golden Ass for Christmas and Troilus and Cressida for my birthday.

I haven't written much of anything besides my Yuletide story lately, so if you'd like to change that, request a drabble! Pairing and perhaps a prompt, plz.

Last night I drabbled about Percy and got a lovely Trelawney drabble in return. Then I flung all my belongings in a suitcase and slept for a couple of hours before I had to be at the airport, which is where I am right now. Fortunately they have stopped charging for their wireless internet.

I'm tagging along with my father on another trip to Washington D.C. This time I get to see my beloved laislabevita, who's doing a law internship thingy there! Much more exciting than the Washington Monument.

And apparently we are boarding now. I have my laptop, my iPod, my DS and a book for a two and a half hour flight. Think I'll survive?

What do you mean, it's not Easter? It's Orthodox Easter, so there! It's not just that I'm a week late or anything. *polishes halo*

mctabby's annual drabblethon is winding to a close now and, as always, it is chock full of awesome. My own modest contribution to the fun can be found here.

In other news, someone visited our yard in the night and planted marshmallow peeps and bunnies on plastic forks along our driveway. It wasn't my mom, and I don't think it was any of the neighbors since ours was the only yard to be so favored, so I think it must have been one of my brother's friends.

And now, because it is actually nice out (nothing short of a miracle, considering that our weather is almost uniformly awful and last night we had tornados, for heaven's sake) I will be reclining on the back porch.
