a bit of randomness
Jul. 26th, 2003 12:56 amTonight, apparently tired of me complaining that there is no Indian food to be found in this vast, uncivilized tract of land known as "the Midwest," my mom attempted to make beef curry. The resulting dinner, although not precisely being beef curry, did have curry powder in it and was edible, which is more than you can say for most things that are produced when she decides to hare off and make something without a recipe.
Without a recipe is, of course, her favored method of cooking. She claims it is because, as an "intuitive" personality (Myers-Briggs, I suppose), she is not bound by recipes and must combine ingredients as the fancy takes her. I try to tell her that, as I understand it, intuition involves being led to the correct whatever-it-is, and that unless she wishes to torment us further she should consider being bound by recipes nonetheless. She is not receptive to logic. I suppose it's all part of the same problem.
I have an anklet with silver bells on. I have always wanted one and I don't know why. It's kind of funny because you would actually most likely not hear me walking around without it.
Going to Minnesota tomorrow with my little brother and my dad, who's meeting up with his cousin who lives in California. I don't really know anyone involved I don't think, so that should be a whole lot of fun. It ranks above going to the dentist, but just barely.
The dentist is, of course, our next stop on this little excursion o' fun. Yes, we commute from Missouri to our dentist in my birthplace, Sioux Falls. My mom isn't coming because of her feud with my aunt. It's lovely...
Hmm, time to load up the old iPod with fic to read I suppose.
I miss New York. A&E was showing the spiffy 2000 version of Hamlet earlier, although edited for "time and content," and I wasn't really paying attention except to say, "Aww, New York. I miss New York." This annoys my brother somewhat.
