What I've been reading

I read Bad Houses, a graphic novel collaboration between Sara Ryan (whose YA novels I adore) and Carla Speed McNeil (whose indie SF comic epic Finder I adore). I liked it, but not as much as I like the things that they've done separately.

I finished Medieval Iceland: Society, Sagas and Power, which was not as entertaining as Feud in the Icelandic Saga, although it did have a good chapter about how the various things were conducted, which is the sort of thing I was researching.

I read Darkness at Pemberley, T. H. White's early attempt to combine genres of locked room mystery, thriller and Jane Austen fanfic. There doesn't seem to be any particular reason for the action to be set at Pemberley and involve the descendents of Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy one century after Pride and Prejudice, but there isn't any reason for it not to.

I reread the classic 1066 and All That and read the slightly-less-classic followup And Now All This, which is to general knowledge what the former is to history and has some funny bits about Freud, geography and knitting (not at once).

I read Hark! A Vagrant—I mean, I have done/do that all the time, but I checked out an actual paper copy from the library and read it.

What I'm reading now

I'm rereading Kushiel's Avatar for the Phèdre/Hyacinthe fic I've been planning on writing for Bev for…some time now.
