According to people who ask other people intrusive questions and therefore claim to know things, fully three-quarters of the population suffer from a peculiar and debilitating condition called extroversion.

These "extroverts" do not simply derive pleasure from enjoyable interaction with others; they derive energy from it. They thrive upon it. When a nice, normal person is all worn out from socializing and just wants to sit down somewhere with a cup of tea and a computer or even one of those old-fangled book-thingies, the extroverts are still yammering away. Particularly severe extroversion cases seem to be unable to tolerate the sound of silence at all; they will carry on a conversation that is no longer, or in fact never was, congenial, apparently with no other motivation beyond wanton disturbance of the peace. They barge in on people at inappropriate moments to selfishly fulfill their deviant emotional needs. They do not seem to understand the meaning of the word "alone", even when furnished with a perfectly adequate dictionary.

In short, extroverts threaten our most precious and scarse natural resource: our sanity. The time has come to take a stand against extroverts and their so-called "normality". Introverts unite!

And then wander off whenever you feel like it, you know. Don't worry, there's tea. And wireless internet.

Ooooh, that one was fun!

Yay!

This is one of the best things about the internet and Web generally, and lj in particular. And verily it is a good rant.
