mayhap: Lyra reads the alethiometer (Lyra)

Maxim magazine has placed a number of posters in my neighborhood (and, doubtless, in others) urging women not to manicure their men, as it removes their "rough edges". I think I speak for possessors of sensitive erogenous tissue everywhere when I say that if you ignore my complaints about your rough edges, you are going to find yourself relying heavily on your Maxim magazine, if you know what I mean.

I have to come up with an idea for a final project for my Shakespeare and the London Theatre class before 3:30 this afternoon. I'm thinking of choosing a passage/scene and performing it/getting other people to perform it various ways, possibly including rewriting in contemporary language and/or setting. This has an obvious presentation component, but a much less obvious paper component.

We are currently reading Much Ado About Nothing. Beatrice/Benedick forever, and a pox on anyone who doesn't think that loud declarations of hate can be a perfectly sound basis for a pairing. ;)

Does anyone want to hear my rant about my hatred for the MPAA rating system in all its manifestations, but especially on fanfiction? I keep meaning to write one, and then getting distracted by shiny things instead.

Your comment about Maxim magazine just reminded me of the commercial - I forget exactly what for - that had all these emasculated men asking for half-caffeine in their morning lattes and having ricockulous amounts of beauty products in their medicine cabinets. The voice-over said, "Man invented the wheel. He walked on the moon. Man, what happened to you?" and subsequently urged the men to take back their respective masculinities.

Now, I don't need a metrosexual - I like a man with a little "rough edges," as it were - but it's about high time they started grooming themselves, for crying out loud.

And yes, we want to hear your MPAA rantings!

I'd read a rant about that. And I would stand around with a placard encouraging passers-by to come and hear your wise and ranting words. (Well, as long as it wasn't raining.)

I swear, countless pair of my underwear have been deathly snagged due to my husband's "ragged edges."
It's certainly not a good system for rating porn. In fact, doesn't the MPAA get pissed about people using it for rating fic?
