Heaven, I'm in heaven ....

mayhapWent up to Fort Tryon Park, otherwise known as the nearest thing to heaven on earth, for a tour of the Cloisters with my Sainthood class. We got to go up those stairs with the gate marked "private" and see the library and the offices and everything.
Afterwards I hung around in the park because it was so gorgeous out, all fluffy clouds and sweet breezes and such. I walked around the paths and down this one flight of stairs over on the river side which trails off into nowhere in particular. I was amused by the patch of ground covered in broken glass, condom wrappers and emptied ketchup-style packets of lube although I must say, the broken glass would make it rather dangerous ...

satyadasa and met him for lunch at Big Nick's Burger Place and Pizza Place near his Barnes and Noble. The Alohaburger was not as good as the Hawaiian pizza upon which it was modeled and to which I am devoted, but it was pretty good. I miss midwestern pizza as opposed to this goofy New York pizza with no crust to speak of. I miss Papa John's garlic sauce. Woe. (Okay, not really woe.)
Have papers to write. Don't know what to write them about. I had an idea I liked for my final paper for Sainthood, the assignment being to compare a male and a female saint. I thought I would compare Mary and Joseph (I know, I know, they are the diametric opposite of obscure saints) and talk about how, in order that he not threaten Mary's sexual purity, Joseph has to be unmanned, depicted as at best really old, at worst rather simple-minded. This is an inversion of the usual paradigm whereby the female is the threat and the male is the threatened, sexually speaking. Lots of good pictures I could use to illustrate those dynamics with.
However, that's the final. By Tuesday, I need to come up with a topic for my midterm paper/presentation. Woe. Really woe this time.
