What I've been reading

I finished The Unfinished Clue, which indeed ended as satisfyingly as it began.

I read Death in the Stocks, my favorite of Georgette Heyer's mysteries so far. It reminds me a bit of Surfeit of Lampreys, which is one of my favorite Ngaio Marshes, although Heyer's approach has a much stronger farcical element.

I read In a Dark Wood: What Dante Taught Me about Grief, Healing and the Mysteries of Love. I kind of disliked the author as a person, which made it a slog, although he did occasionally say something somewhat interesting about Dante. The rave reviews seemed overblown to me.

I read No Wind of Blame, and was kind of annoyed because the back copy on my edition hints pretty strongly at something that belongs to a late stage of the investigation. I mean, I don't consider the actual mystery plots the primary draw of these books, but that doesn't mean that I want them spoiled!
