mayhapThe Founderfic plot bunny will not go away. In fact, it is thriving, and I have a nasty feeling that if I try to move its food dish or something it will growl and snap at me. (Yes, bunnies can growl. I have one, and she does, although rarely at me, as she is fond of me and I have the good sense not to try anything with her food dish while she is near it. They can also scream in moments of extreme duress, which my bunny has happily not experienced. Other than that, they preserve a discreet silence, which is quite charming.)
In the meantime, it has gone and transformed itself from a hypothetical ficlet to more of an epic thingy. Well, less of an epic thingy, but definitely a novel thingy. I had not previously seriously considered writing anything Schnoogle-length in HP because I lacked inspiration for such.
I've never even read any Founderfic; the nearest thing I have read was an essay about how tiresome it was that J.K. Rowling made 1000 the year of the founding when, say, 1200 would have worked much better, which reminds me that now I've got to do some research and see how well my story fits into that timeframe.
I blame my Tricksters professor, who appears to be my muse for this story, blast him. I have muses, kind of: they're people who give me ideas, generally without meaning it. Like, when I did an independent study on Victorian fairy tales last year where my project was to write stories that responded to them in some amusing and clever way, it was brilliant, because every week after I met and had tea and cake with her, even though we mostly talked about the most tangential things, lo and behold, I would get all these good ideas and go home and write them. As now, I intend to go scribble about my Founders and their cast of supporting characters and such. That is, until I have to be somewhere else at noon.
