"My Other Mother would make me this sweater," I told my mom.

"Yes, your other mother would knit this just before the flesh disappeared from her body and she ran after you with a carving knife!" she responded.

Alas. One of these days I'm simply going to have to learn to knit for myself.

:) Knitting is not so bad, although I haven't tried colorwork yet (either the kind shown there or the kind where you carry little loops behind the work)....

Oh, I had the hardest time learning to tie my shoes in first grade. Then again, I've been doing that successfully for many years now, so perhaps I had better take up knitting as soon as possible so that I can produce something wearable in the next decade or so. ;)

Or crochet! One could crochet a sweater like that. One hook rather than 2+ needles....
