True story... First semester my freshman year, I needed to get into Writing Seminar I [known then as Rhetoric I].  This, as you know, was a required course.  Yet, somehow, all the sections were closed.  Countless people had assured me that if a course was closed, I could speak to the professor and they would sign a form and let me in the class.  Well, after speaking to four professors who would NOT sign a form and let me in the class, I finally turned to June Foley, who knew of the trouble I was having, and pretty much pleaded with her to sign my form.  "Oh," she said, "I just let someone else into the course, which makes 18, and you know, 19 is way too many for this kind of course."  I swear.  Oh, and did I mention she was my advisor?

I ended up taking Rhetoric I in the spring with about four other losers like me.  I fully believe that this incident greatly contributed to my early-onset hatred of NYU.  Of course, I still attend NYU, and June Foley is even still my advisor, so maybe I'm just a masochist.

P.S.  Don't tell her I said this.  I still need her to approve my spring schedule. :)
