2015 World Champions!

I'm still ridiculously overwhelmed by last night's game! I mean, don't get me wrong, once they took a 3-1 lead in the series I never doubted that they were going to win, but I thought they were on track to do it in six games. Another game six in front of a home crowd tomorrow would no doubt have been a lot of fun, but we're having a giant parade instead.
I plan to be at that parade. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a massive logistical nightmare, but it should be an incredible massive logistical nightmare. But now I really have to get some sleep, or I really won't survive this experience.

Date: 2015-11-05 03:12 am (UTC)I, too, look forward to sports fandoming again next year! Last year I checked out of all things baseball between game seven of the World Series and Opening Day, but now I have a bunch of offseason questions that I desperately need the answers to, such as: Will we be able to shake enough money out of the couch cushions to get the gilt-gloved Alex Gordon back now that he's a free agent, especially if we also try to retain his near doppelganger, Ben Zobrist? What, exactly, is our starting rotation going to consist of, besides Ventura, Volquez and a bunch of question marks? No, but seriously, if Alex Gordon leaves the Royals, I will cry…

Date: 2015-11-05 12:08 pm (UTC)Somewhere in the double-digit innings of Game 5, I told my dad that if the Royals scored again, I was going home. I was not going to stick around to watch it end. So when the first run of the last inning scored, I groaned, said a hasty goodbye, and got in the car.
As I pulled up to my apartment ten minutes later, I saw through my upstairs neighbor's window what looked like a tv showing a baseball game and was momentarily stunned. Somehow, after all that, the game was still g-- oh.
I had never followed a team through a season before this year, let alone an off-season, but yeah, there are some personnel questions I'm interested in too. But it won't be the consistent entertainment of there actually being games being played... *sniff*
(Took me a minute to remember which of your Alexes was which. Why do they have to bat next to each other!? But, right: Gordon = Tied game 1; Rios = Forgot which out it was.)

Date: 2015-11-06 12:16 am (UTC)I feel like I should stop reading trade rumors, especially the ones that are just fans of opposing teams window shopping with no known basis in reality, because I came across something about Alex Gordon possibly going to the Giants, who apparently need a left fielder now, and I made a dangerously high-pitched noise. (Can someone please, please snap their obnoxious habit of winning every even-numbered World Series this year?)
