The new update page may be a thing of beauty and a joy forever, or alternately the worst thing that has happened to you since XColiber, but unless I am just blind, it has totally broken posting pictures in a reasonable fashion. Since, you know, whenever I try to post pictures (in OmniWeb 5, Safari and Firefox) it gives me that shiny new update page, which is completely empty and contains no pictures whatsoever.

So. I will format them myself. Blah. This is extraordinarily tiresome.

St. Andrews Cathedral

Here you can see the one surviving wall and the rear of the St. Andrews Cathedral and part of the graveyard adjacent.

Two windows

A closeup of two of the Gothic windows. I stuck this in my rotation of desktop pictures.

The water's edge

There's the North Sea. A bit of it, anyway.

The castle ruins

Here's a wider view where you can also see the castle ruins on this lovely cliff.

The promenade

There's a very nice little path along the top of the cliffs by the water here. Town in the background, obviously.

Cathedral façade

Here's the front of the cathedral.

Window view

This is, in fact, the view out my window. That building is another dorm called Andrew Melville Hall, which won an award for its design in the 70s, so we cannot tear it down now. It is supposed to look like two ships colliding. Whether or not it does, and whether or not this would be a good thing if it did, is left as an exercise to the reader.

Before you said they were meant to be ships colliding, I was looking at those buildings going "blech!". But now I find the concept strangely appealing. Because they're on land, and they're buildings... not ships on the water at all... it's like carving a duck out of cheese, or something. I want to live in a concrete ship on a collision course that sails on the grass.

The pictures are gorgeous. I am excited and I'm not even you.

Awesome pics. I especially like 'two windows', and 'st. andrew's cathedral'.

Wow, those are fantastic. I like the North Sea one, and also the castle on the cliff. It looks like you're in a beautiful part of the country.

One of my best friends went to Scotland a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time. I would love to go there some day.

They do look like colliding ships.
Glad to know the sun was shining for at least one second in Bonny Scotland.
