I caught up with the Prince of Tennis National Finals a while ago and I really liked the ending. )

As far as I'm concerned, Dear Prince is basically a love letter to fandom in all its gleeful cracky porny obssessive glory, and I just want to say, thank you. ♥

Also! Now we have a nice closed canon to write futurefic in, and the Chinese drama for quasi-AU goodness! Life is good.

  • Our library's been closed this week while they installed new carpet. We're all meant to go in tomorrow and put it back in order before we reopen on Monday. Ha.

  • How did I not know that there's a Wikipedia in Latin? They have articles on Harrius Potter and Anime, just for starters.

  • I just created an account yesterday and I'm already deeply addicted to BookMooch. Already I've mailed five books to people and other people are sending me Sunset at Blandings, Mind of the Maker and Myst: The Book of Ti'Ana!

  • I think I'm going to create a website devoted to Kaidoh and his many wonderful outfits.

I seem to have gotten in the habit of never posting anything ever. This is probably because my life is so confusing lately that I have difficulty explaining it to myself, so what chance do I have at elucidating it for other people? But then I started to miss getting comments and realized that this strategy was suboptimal, so here goes nothing.

  • We have a glass atrium door at the back of our house. These robins keep flying into it, becoming mildly concussed, forgetting all about why this was a bad idea in the first place, and then flying into it again, so my mom has taped a faux-Burberry dog leash and an empty Tostito's bag to the door. It is slightly surreal.

  • Sam and I finished watching (rewatching, in my case) the last ~80 episodes of Prince of Tennis at a fairly terrifying pace over the past month or so. I had somehow forgotten how utterly cracktastic most of those later seasons are. I also owe Sam MomoKai makeover fic now.

  • Last night Stan and I ate dinner with our former French teacher and a close-knit group of other francophones in the Kansas City metropolitan area. One of the women there was actually visiting from Japan, so Stan decided to tell her all about my obsession with « Le prince du tennis ». I believe she thought we were both slightly odd.

We ended up spending most of the evening talking to this very adorable and precocious little girl who is totally bilingual. I know that she thought Stan was crazy, because she kept telling him that at every opportunity, in English and in French. I told her she was very astute. *g*

  • Kaidoh is hot. This always bears repeating.

Stan told I should post here more often. There is some justice to this. However, he failed to answer me when I inquired what, precisely, I should be posting. You can blame him for this post.

On Friday, I decorated my locker at work with photocopies from the Prince of Tennis manga. I put all of Seigaku along the bottom and this panel above my name:

Stan made fun of me for my Inui love and said that his heart belongs to oval glasses, not square ones. (Although I think this really just translates to him perving on Shirota, since his primary Tenipuri exposure is watching the movie twice while providing his own subtitles.) Sam concurred with him, while maintaining that Kaidoh is hotter than both of them. And thus, a pointless poll, for the collection of data:

mayhap: two hands reaching with text Grip tape is love (grip tape is love)
  1. I have new pajama pants! My brother isn't here anymore to provide me with a fresh supply of clothing to steal, so I had to go to the men's department and pick them out myself after my mother despaired of persuading me to select something fluffy and pink instead. They have pockets! I never want to take them off.

  2. Genius 324. Kaoru-chan. Enough said.

  3. I bought Christmas presents for my brother, Sam and Stan which I'm fairly certain they will all love. I'm so excited about giving people presents this year and I wouldn't even care if no one got me anything. I'm afraid that this means that I'm a grown-up or something.

  4. My hair is awesome. Actually, my hair has been awesome a lot lately, and I was wondering if I had sold my soul to the devil while I wasn't really paying attention or something, and then I found out that the new shampoo my mother picked out for me costs $15 per bottle. Which is too bad, really, because I wasn't using my soul, and I really could have done with an eternity of good hair days.

Just ... just don't even ask how hard I'm failing at NaNoWriMo this year. Or about my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide story, which presently consists of scrawlings on an envelope along the lines of "[Character] and [character] [do something]?"

My Sam has left me! His lame excuse was that he needs to attend "classes" so he does not "flunk out of school" and "become a hobo living in a cardboard box". Which, okay, but if it were a cardboard box with internet access, that wouldn't be so bad, right?

Now who will keep me up until five in the morning (or later!) playing the Sims? Who will play tennis with me and hit balls into the net while coming up with dorky catchphrases? Who will talk to me for hours about how Kaidoh is hot?

Well, okay, we can do that one over IM. But it's not the same.

My dad and I revived the daddy-daughter film experience and saw Snakes on a Plane yesterday. He has no idea to whom all his base are belong, is unaware of how his hed is attached, and generally would not know a viral internet meme if it bit him, but he instantly grasped the appeal of Snakes on a Plane, namely: there are snakes, and they are on a plane. Seriously, if you are sick of the whole Snakes on a Plane phenomenon, listening to your father repeating the phrase with a sort of awe will make it amusing all over again.

There were only like, six of us in the audience, but hey, we had fun.
