And there was much rejoicing
May. 2nd, 2003 09:03 pmI am so very, very glad to have my computer back, and more or less restored from the backup CDs I made over winter break plus the stuff I had backed up online. I felt like I'd misplaced my hands or something without it
By the time the whole saga had concluded, I knew most of the staff of the Genius Bar at the SoHo Apple Store. They marveled at my computer's remarkable ability to run disk utilities for weeks on end and utterly fail to get past step six, gave me bottles of water, and eventually formatted my hard drive and reinstalled OS X and installed all the updates for free.
While we're squeeing about Apple here, last I checked there were people lined up all along Greene from Houston to Prince in the pouring rain waiting for the mere opportunity to enter the Apple Store and get free posters, listen to music, and maybe buy an iPod. Such a cult, I tell you.
Ugh, I should scurry off and get Word reinstalled so I can write the papers that have got to be really, pressingly due...sigh...time to actually be interesting comes later, I think, perhaps once I've got home.
