On the Arrival of Pigeons

A pigeon just came this close to entering my bedroom. It perched and stuck its head in, but evaluated the possibilities offered by my room and decided to go elsewhere.

I debated sharing this with you all, but I remembered the sage advice of Darwin's editor friend, Whitwell Elwin, upon reviewing the manuscript of On the Origin of Species and suggesting a possible alternate subject matter: "Everyone is interested in pigeons."

You don't have enough things in your room that are attractive to pigeons. It's not like you could offer it some tea.
